HTC Rewards - Frequently Asked Questions

Does any HTC customer qualify for an HTC Rewards program?

Almost! HTC and HTC Communication customers with an eligible phone line and certain qualified other HTC services may qualify for a Rewards program. A customer must have eligible residential phone service.

  • Some HTC Communication customers will not qualify due to the area in which their phone service originates.
  • Customers with residential phone service provided by their Home Owners Association (bulk service) do not qualify.
  • Customers must have demonstrated good payment to qualify.

How do I know which Rewards program is right for me?

If you want our most popular calling features and plan to make long distance calls from home, you may be pleased with the savings of the Hometown Rewards program.

If you don't want all the calling features nor make many long distance calls from home, but have other qualified services, you may want to consider enrolling in Member or Community Rewards programs. The only difference between Member Rewards and Community Rewards is the area in which your phone service resides.

If you have both an HTC traditional residential phone line and an HTC Horizon wireless plan of $49.99 or higher you may be enrolled in our Voice Rewards program giving you More Free Calling. You may be enrolled in Voice Rewards and either Hometown or Member/Community Rewards and save even more!

How do I sign up for a Rewards program?

You can sign up by one of these methods:

  • Over the phone by calling one of our Customer Service Representatives at 843-365-2154.
  • Visiting one of our locations and asking on of our Customer Service Representatives to assist you.
  • Use HTC My Account.

Hometown Rewards

What is included in Hometown Rewards?

  • A local phone line and local calling
  • Up to 5,000 minutes local measured and/or US and Canada long distance (overage minutes at $0.15)
  • Monthly Service Location Charge (SLC) of up to $6.50
  • Calling Features:
    • Caller ID Deluxe (Name and Number Delivery)
    • Call Waiting Deluxe
    • Voicemail Basic
    • Call Forwarding (Variable from home, Remote from other locations, and Busy/Don't Answer)

What additional services qualify to reduce my rate?

  • HTC Internet service
  • HTC Cable TV Basic and Plus (not bulk)
  • HTC Gatekeeper Security (not bulk)
  • HTC Horizon Wireless plan of $39.95 or higher

How do additional services reduce my rate?

Customers who have multiple qualifying services receive a reduction in the monthly rate for Hometown Rewards:

  • $44.95 for package if you have 1 other service
  • $39.95 for package if you have 2 other services
  • $34.95 for package if you have 3 other services

Taxes and fees including: 911, Inside Wire Maintenance, Telephone Relay Services, and Universal Service Fund are not included. Monthly subscriber line charge fee of up to $6.50 is included. Monthly fees of $34.95, $39.95, and $44.95 are subject to change if subscriber line charge fees increase.

Do I have to have Voice Mail?

No. You can ask your representative to supress this feature.

Do I have to agree a LOA (Letter of Agreement)?

  • All Hometown Rewards customers will be required to agree to an LOA.
  • The LOA will outline the services included.
  • The LOA will specifically indicate the restrictions on the up to 5,000 minute usage and the $0.15/minute overage charges.
  • The LOA will indicate if a customer is agreeing to a 12-month commitment.
  • Customers who receive a free install will be required to agree to a 12-month agreement.

What happens if a Hometown Rewards customer cancels before 12 months?

Nothing if they did not agree to a 12-month agreement.

If they did agree to a 12-month agreement, they will be responsible for an Early Termination Fee of $120 prorated at $10/month for remaining unfulfilled months.

What happens if a Hometown Rewards customer moves out of the area or transfers services?

Nothing if they did not agree to a 12-month agreement.

If they did agree to a 12-month agreement, and they are not reinstalling service, they will be responsible for an Early Termination Fee of $120 prorated at $10/month for remaining unfulfilled months.

What happens if a Hometown Rewards customer exceeds 5,000 minutes in a month?

They will be billed at $0.15/minute over 5,000 minutes. All advertising will include a disclaimer referring to the 5,000 minutes limit and overage per minute charge.

What happens if a Hometown Rewards customer does not pay in a timely manner?

The customer may be removed from the program and see non-Hometown Reward charges on their next bill for their phone line and features and long distance will be billed at HTLD rates.

Can my "bulk" Cable TV or home security service received from my Home Owners Association count as one of the additional services?

No.

What if I don't want HTLD as my long distance carrier?

Customers who do not have HTLD for their long distance carrier do not qualify for Hometown Rewards. However, they can qualify for Member or Community Rewards if you do not have HTLD.

Member/Community Rewards

What is included in Member/Community Rewards?

Member/Community Rewards provide a monthly credit of up to $5 per month on accounts with multiple qualifying services.

What are the qualifying services?

  • Eligible HTC phone service (must be an HTC facilities based residential telephone).
  • HTC Internet (Dial-Up or High speed access)
  • HTC Digital Cable Plus
  • HTC Gate Keeper Security Services
  • HTC Horizon Wireless Phone plan of $39.99 or higher

Can my "bulk" Cable TV, phone, internet, or security services received from my Home Owners Association count as one of the additional services?

No.

Do I have to have HTC HTLD as my long distance carrier?

No.

Can my HTC Horizon wireless Family Talk plan count as one of the additional services?

The Family Talk plan will not count as an additional service, however your HTC Horizon plan with a monthly rate of $39.99 or higher can count as an additional service.

Do I have to agree a LOA (Letter of Agreement)?

  • All Member/Community Rewards customers who receive a discounted installation will be required to agree to an LOA.
  • The LOA will outline the services included. This agreement is recorded over the phone if the order is placed on the phone or signed on an agreement if the order is placed in person.
  • The LOA will indicate if a customer is agreeing to a 12-month agreement.
  • Customers who receive a free install will be required to agree to a 12-month agreement.

What happens if a Member/Community Rewards customer cancels before 12 months?

Nothing if they did not agree to a 12-month agreement.

Voice Rewards

What is included in Voice Rewards?

  • Calls made from an HTC traditional home phone to any MEAS (Measured Extended Area Service) exchange in Horry and Georgetown counties will be free.
  • Calls made to an HTC Horizon wireless phone from any MEAS exchange in Horry and Georgetown counties will not count against monthly airtime minutes.
  • Calls originating from your HTC Horizon wireless phone(s) while within the regional calling area of SC, NC, eastern TN and coastal GA to any HTC billed customer will not count against monthly airtime minutes.

How do I qualify for Voice Rewards?

  • You must have an eligible HTC home phone.
  • You must also have an HTC Horizon wireless phone plan of $49.99 or higher on the same account as your HTC home phone or referenced on that home phone account.

Can my HTC Horizon wireless Family Talk plan be included?

Yes. All phones included in the Family Talk plan will receive the same benefits if the base Horizon plan is $49.99 or higher.

Will the free calls be detailed on my bills?

No.

Will calls for Dial-Up Internet be considered free calls from my home phone?

No, Voice Rewards is considered a voice phone service.

Do I have to have HTC HTLD as my long distance carrier?

Yes.

Do I have to agree to any contract commitment?

Yes. Most HTC Horizon plans require a contractual commitment and you will be required to keep that commitment.

Can I be enrolled in another HTC Rewards and Voice Rewards?

Yes. That is HTC's way of rewarding you for having your home phone plus your wireless phone and other HTC products!
