HTC and Kiwanis Club of Conway to Distribute Free School Supplies
Summer is nearly over and students are trading in their beach towels for back packs as they gear up for a new school year. While most children anticipate heading back to school, some parents worry about juggling the cost of school supplies with the family budget. With this in mind, HTC, in partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Conway, is helping students get ready for class by holding its 10th Annual Back to School FREE School Supplies Program. HTC and the Kiwanis Club of Conway will distribute FREE school supplies on Wednesday, August 19 beginning at 8:00 a.m. at each HTC branch office and at 10:00 a.m. at the HTC store located inside the Food Court at Coastal Grand Mall.
“The Kiwanis Club of Conway is extremely excited about the partnership with HTC to help fund and distribute free school supplies to those in need in our community. We are looking forward to participating in this project and serving the children of our area. Our ‘Tools for Schools’ FREE School Supplies Program is a perfect fit in fulfilling the Kiwanis mission of ‘serving the children of the world’. We hope people will take advantage of this opportunity to receive the school supplies they need to prepare for the start of the new school year,” said Betty Moore, Kiwanis Club of Conway Co-chair of Community Service Team and President-Elect.
According to Nicole Hyman, HTC Senior Marketing Coordinator, “Back to school time can be very stressful for some parents when it comes to the cost of school supplies, so this is one way we can help lighten the load.” Every child deserves to report to their first day of school equipped with the necessary tools to learn and be successful. “We are extremely excited about this event and with the help of the Kiwanis Club of Conway expect to hand out over 2,000 bags of supplies for children in grades K-12. The Back to School FREE School Supplies Program has become an annual event residents in the HTC service area greatly anticipate and depend on to provide essential school supplies to their children,” said Hyman.
Each HTC office will have bags packaged with pencils, rulers, erasers, pencil bags, notebooks and more, but supplies are limited and will be issued on a first come, first serve basis. Hurry in to the HTC office in your community to stock up on school supplies while they last! HTC has ten convenient locations throughout Horry County: Loris, Little River, North Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach, Coastal Grand Mall, Murrells Inlet, Socastee, Carolina Forest and Conway.
For more than 50 years, HTC has been giving back to the community through various projects within the public and private school systems.
