Our Presence is Felt Throughout the Community!

Every day HTC and its employees enrich the lives of thousands of area citizens. In addition to providing financial support to meet community needs, employees offer their time and talents to arts and cultural programs, human service and civic enterprises, our educational institutions, and many other worthwhile causes.

Partners in Education

It is with great pride that HTC serves Horry County Schools as a Partner in Education. Through the Partners in Education program with Horry County Schools, HTC can provide valuable and lasting contributions for students, teachers, businesses and the community. Please click HERE or visit www.htcschool.com for more infromation.

Hometown Heroes

Hometown Heroes are individuals who go that extra mile helping out in the community without asking for anything in return. From volunteering at services, clubs, churches, youth organizations and elder care providers, civic groups, local councils and community protection activists, these individuals genuinely make a difference.

Each year, HTC honors one HTC member from each of HTC's eight districts, a teacher and student who are also members, along with one HTC Communications customer for a total of eleven awards.

As the hometown telecommunications provider, HTC strives to display the same values and dedication to the community as our Hometown Heroes. The goal of this program is to recognize outstanding individuals and encourage other citizens to perform community service so that everyone may have a better place to work and live.

Residents in HTC's service area may nominate individuals each year in February. The award winners are recognized at a special luncheon held in March. Click here to view the 2008 HTC Hometown Heroes >>

Inside Wire

The program is aired Monday through Saturday on HTC Channel 4 at 1:30 PM, 4:30 PM and 7:30 PM and HTC Channel 16 - WWMB UPN 21 at 8:00 AM. Watch to stay informed of the latest HTC promotions and community affairs programs.

ER Mickey

In cooperation with The Disney Channel, HTC provides Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse plush puppets for children who are hospitalized during the holiday season. HTC is excited about continuing this unique tradition and spreading Christmas cheer in local hospitals each year. Spending time in the hospital can be discouraging for children at any time of year, and especially during the holidays. It is HTC's mission with the ER Mickey program to help children feel as comfortable as possible while they recover from an accident or illness. You can immediately see the smiles on the children's faces as we visit the hospitals to deliver the Mickey and Minnie puppets. That's what makes this program so worthwhile.

Blood Drives for the American Red Cross

HTC holds employee blood drives for the American Red Cross on a regular basis. HTC encourages its employees to give back to the communities it serves. One way HTC serves is through employee blood drives held four times a year.

The blood drive gives HTC employees the opportunity to touch and help save the lives of those in need here in Horry County. HTC is proud of the donations its employees have made over the past several years for The American Red Cross.

Annual Food Drive

HTC hosts an Annual Employee Canned Food Drive to benefit local charities. HTC employees have collected thousands of cans of food and other nonperishable food items as a way of reaching out to those in need during the holiday season. The annual food drive is HTC's way of sharing a portion of the good fortune we've been given with those less fortunate in our community. We would remind others that it's never too late to get involved in the spirit of giving. Charities distribute the food raised by HTC and other organizations on a daily basis to individuals and shares the food with other agencies and food banks in the area.

Employee FUNdraising

Each year, HTC employees participate in various fundraisers for local charities including Relay For Life and the American Heart Association. HTC offers Dress Down Days where employees may wear jeans on Friday in exchange for a donation to a charity. The theme for the employee fundraisers is Hands Together Count (HTC). So if you come by an office on Friday, please excuse our attire, we are dressed down for a good cause. In addition to the fundraising, HTC employees also participate in fundraising events such as the March of Dimes WalkAmerica and the Relay For Life.

HTC also contributes to Coastal Carolina University's Lifelong Learning Society, an academic enrichment program which offers free Internet classes and other benefits to hundreds of senior citizens in the area. In addition, HTC was one of five major sponsors of the first annual Academic Olympics, a national academic competition that accompanies the annual Beach Ball Classic.
